4/10/2010

Partnering with Hawaii Convention and Visitor Bureau, Outriggers Hotels and Resorts and Coffees of Hawaii, Gordon Biersch to feature Pacific Rim Menu, Maibock Seasonal Beer and Sweepstakes for Trip to Hawaii

CHATTANOOGA, TENN. (April 7, 2010) - Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant sets sail for the Pacific Rim from April 6th to May 16th. The promotion will feature:

  • Special Promotional Menu featuring such Pacific Rim inspired cuisine as a Kona Rubbed Sirloin, Korean BBQ Beef Tacos and Macadamia Nut Mahi Bites
  • Maibock Beer - a seasonal German Lager traditionally brewed in the spring
  • A Molokai Coffee with special promotional partner Coffees of Hawaii
  • Opportunity for “Passport” Loyalty Club members to cash in points for Coffees of Hawaii gift cards worth $300
  • Sweepstakes for Trip to Hawaii and week long vacation on islands of Oahu and Molokai

In describing the menu, Corporate Chef Bill Heckler stated, “The Pacific Rim offers a rich variety of flavors and tradition that fit perfectly with our commitment to offering guests a ‘made from scratch menu with bold international flavors.’  We continue to see guests desiring more sophisticated and creative culinary choices.  The Pacific Rim with its broad variety of Asian influences provided the perfect avenue to really get creative.  Having spent most of my career as a chef in Southern California, I had a great time developing the Korean BBQ Beef Tacos - the perfect example of broad influences that go into Pacific Rim cuisine.”  The menu features:

  • Pacific Rim Combo which includes Macadamia Nut Crusted Mahi Mahi Bites, Ahi Spring Rolls, and Teriyaki American-style Kobe Sliders
  • Macadamia Nut Crusted Mahi Mahi Bites
  • Teriyaki Kobe Sliders
  • Ahi Spring Rolls
  • Garlic Edamame
  • Kona Coffee Rubbed Sirloin
  • Asian Chicken Salad
  • Hawaiian Kobe Burger
  • Korean BBQ Beef Tacos
  • Misoyaki Tuna
  • Macadamia Nut Crusted Chicken
  • Kona Coffee Cheesecake

The rich flavors of the Pacific Rim pair perfectly with the special seasonal beer offering.  The crisp, clean character of the Maibock Lager serves to enhance the flavor of the Asian influenced items while not overpowering the taste profile.  As Gordon Biersch is renowned for brewing traditional German Lagers, this beer lives up to the reputation and can be described as:

  • An Einbecker-style strong bock beer. Auburn in color, Maibock is balanced by its smooth, rich maltiness.

As part of the promotion, Coffees of Hawaii will have two special blends featured.  First, a Kona Coffee is being used with a variety of menu items including the Kona Rubbed Sirloin and Kona Coffee Cheesecake.  Secondly, a coffee from the island of Molokai will be served during the promotion.  The two coffees can be described as:

  • 100% Kona Coffee - Kona Nightingale - A European roast adds character to the fragrant, wine and fruit toned bouquet of this 100% Kona coffee.
  • 100% Molokai-Malulani Estate - A rich-bodied, medium roast coffee, complimented with a luscious hint of chocolate.

Rounding out the promotion is a sweepstakes opportunity for guests to win a trip to Hawaii or a variety of gift packages from Coffees of Hawaii.  With no purchase required, guests can sign up online or at the restaurant and be entered to win a dream Hawaii vacation including:

  • 5 Days and nights on the island of Waikiki courtesy of Outrigger Reef on the Beach
  • Two days and nights on the island of Molokai as the guests of Coffees of Hawaii
  • Tour of a Coffee Plantation on the island of Molokai - courtesy of Coffees of Hawaii

Additionally, members of the Gordon Biersch “Passport” Loyalty program will be able to cash in points for Coffees of Hawaii gift cards worth $300.

Helping bring the promotion together were three key partners - Coffees of Hawaii, the Hawaii Convention and Visitors Bureau and Outriggers Hotels and Resorts.  Director of Marketing, Kelly Wilson, stated, “These key partners have been a tremendous pleasure to work with.  They truly have exemplified the Aloha spirit by allowing us to share some really exciting opportunities with our guests.”
