Gordon Biersch Maibock is Your Culinary Passport to the Pacific Rim
Brewery Restaurant Launches Latest Seasonal Menu, Beer and Specialty Cocktail, Just in Time for Spring
CHATTANOOGA, TENN. (April 1, 2011) – Fans of Pacific Rim cuisine need to travel no further than their local Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant to get a taste of Asian-influenced fare. From April 5th to May 15th, the restaurant will be featuring the limited-time-only Maibock menu, complementing Maibock beer and the refreshing Mai Tai cocktail. Maibock is a classic German handcrafted lager and is Gordon Biersch’s traditional celebration of the arrival of spring.
Executive Chef Bill Heckler pulled inspiration from Asia and Hawaii when creating the new menu, combining those influences with top of the line ingredients that Gordon Biersch enthusiasts have come to expect. “Crisp, fresh-tasting, made-from-scratch dishes pair perfectly with the spring season,” said Chef Heckler. “This year’s Maibock menu is packed with appetizers, entrees and a dessert that fit that bill flawlessly.”
The seasonal menu consists of three appetizers, six entrees and one dessert. The appetizers include Teriyaki Kobe Sliders, Garlic Edamame and the Pacific Rim Combo, which allows guests to try the Kobe Sliders, Shrimp and Chicken Potstickers, Garlic Edamame and Breaded Shrimp with sweet chili sauce. The entrées include the Asian Chicken Salad, Hawaiian Kobe Burger, Asian Orange Chicken, Ponzu Salmon, Udon Noodle Bowl and the Hawaiian Ribeye, which is grilled to your liking and accompanied by mashed potatoes, grilled pineapple and vegetables. To round out the menu, who could resist the Banana Spring Rolls, with vanilla ice cream, drizzled with chocolate and caramel sauces, for dessert?
Maibock is a classic German beer that dates back to the 13th Century and is considered a traditional “Rite of Spring”. Maibock is a strong bronzed bounty of warming caramel malt goodness balanced to perfection with noble hersbrucker hops. “Maibock has a more delicate, tawny tangerine hue, and is eminently more quaffable than some of our darker beers” said Tom Dargen, Director of Brewing Operations for Gordon Biersch. “All 34 of our brewery restaurants from Hawaii to Maryland to Florida mash a massive amount of malt to fill their tanks with this elegant lager.”
Guests at Gordon Biersch can also toast to the warmer weather with a Mai Tai, the featured cocktail during the Maibock promotion. The Gordon Biersch Mai Tai is a tropical combination of Cruzan coconut rum, Cointreau orange liqueur, pineapple juice, fresh-squeezed orange juice, with a float of Myers’s dark rum.
To introduce the new spring promotion, locations will be hosting tapping parties for Maibock beer. The parties are open to the public and attendees can sample the beer and tasters of the new seasonal menu items.
